Why Irrigation Automation?

Your commercial turf or landscape is often the first impression given for your New Zealand business. Without an automatic irrigation and fertigation system, your business may become compromised. Grass is more than 80% water and requires nutrients to look great.

Fertech provides a complete solution in maintaining irrigation lawn quality. Reliability with minimal service and repair downtime is part of Fertech’s mission.

Your Automation Solution

Current automated fertigation control schemes are not cost-effective. You need integration and remote access with control for automation. Being compliant with the Resource Management Act is imperative. Fertech is your scalable and affordable solution for automation of fertigation.

Gone are the days of manual work and a heavy workload which leave you tired and stressed at the end of the day. Our fertigation and irrigation system resolves your automation control needs.

Our Fertigation Controller

The FERT 2000 was developed to simplify and improve controlled irrigation and fertigation schemes.

We offer a complete solution to all irrigation and fertigation system needs that not only saves time but also reduces cost and labor. You’ll be able to remotely manage your irrigation and fertigation plans through our user-friendly interface.

Real-time monitoring and reliable operation take out the guesswork found in current systems. A turn-key design gives you full control and automation.

WHO IS FERTECH?

We have helped New Zealanders get the results they want for their agricultural, industrial and even residential needs for automation and control of irrigation. We have installed a variety of automated fertigation schemes ranging from golf courses to farms. Our experience has helped us to learn the following about automated fertigation and irrigation control systems:

  • Automated fertigation control schemes currently available are expensive and time inefficient. Remote monitoring is not well integrated into current fertigated schemes — if integrated at all.
  • The market needs an affordable, scalable irrigation and fertigation scheme for the end user.
  • New Zealand businesses need an all-in-one fertigation controller for efficient irrigation management.
  • Fertigation schemes currently on the market often have compliance issues in New Zealand.
  • Other New Zealand fertigation scheme competitors have not implemented today’s state-of-the-art technology due to a lack of supply-demand knowledge.
  • Fertigation systems provide a massive cost-to-benefit ratio for both cane and fruit production.
  • Implementing an efficient irrigated automation system sooner than later will yield a greater ROI.

OUR FERTIGATION SOLUTION

FERT 2000 is a game changer for automation of irrigation systems.

We designed our automated irrigation and fertigation system so that your scheme is not only scalable, but also affordable — whether you’re a farmer, manager or even a homeowner.

Our emphasis on remote monitoring will reduce your labor needs, expenses and headaches. Your one-time investment is justified through increased productivity and decreased labor expenses.

The components included with FERT 2000 consist of:

  • Mix tank level transducer – pump heat sensor
  • Three-way valve control
  • Flow meter
  • Solenoid valve
  • Headworks pressure transducers
  • Two soil moisture probes
  • Raspberry Pi logic board controller and I/O board
  • 7” touch screen display

Completely Invented

FERT 2000 is a Primary Fertigation Injector Pump System, evolved from our 30+ years of experience in working in the field.

Manual refilling of the mix tank can be set to auto fill and auto mix depending on your needs. You set up the zones and the volumes of injections for each, and it does the rest. You can fill in the mix tank with fresh water for “flush” at the end of each fertigation cycle.

It works for both new deployments as well as upgrades to existing ones. The operator-friendly panels give you superior control and monitoring.

Standard Design

FERT 2000 is designed to allow you to change the mix tank and pumps for different flow rates and volume capacity. The standard settings enable you to inject between 2 l/m to 20 l/m with a mix tank capacity of 2000 liters.

It has a site-class type insert allowing you to view the level, as well as a built-in level transducer to enable the central processor to monitor the level. These features are both for safety and recording. The lid and access to the tank is simple to use and large enough to easily add mix.

Robust Components

The pump is a “Standard Multi Stage Centrifugal” type with stainless steel impellers and a simple priming system. It can be used for constant tank mixing as well as fertigation, making it all the more cost efficient.

The FERT 2000 pump is a 0.55kw single phase motor but it can be modified to three-phase if required. The pump outlet connects to a 3-way valve, complete with a 24V DC electric motor for automated control of flow between the mix tank and the injection to the main irrigation line.

This motorized valve is one of the key features of the FERT 2000 system and allows for a broad range of injection rates and a high level of automatic control. The valve has a built-in linear adjustment curve device. One port on the three-way valve is directed back to the mix tank and used primarily for agitation.

Easy Fitting

The flexible hose leading back to the mix tank can be connected by snap-lock fitting to our H-type agitation tank pipework. You can remove it anytime to clean up. The holes present in the pipework also function to enable a back pressure to the system above the main water flow.

FERT 2000 has been designed from the ground up to be maintainable without the need for specialist assistance. You will appreciate the simplistic approach to working with the system, something our competitors underestimate in their solutions.

High-Level Monitoring

The second port on the three-way valve is for the fertigation injection to the main water line. The SICKMAG Type Flow Meter provides both pulse and analog outputs and is an industrial type unit and provides a high level of monitoring and maintenance-free operation which allows for stable automation. FERT 2000 also has a high-flow mesh filter. This unit is easy to clean and can be fitted with different mesh units if required.

FERT 2000 also comes with a solenoid valve which is used to electronically enable or disable the flow of fertigation to the main water line. An inline backflow valve is present to give you the access to easily clean the equipment. A flexible hose is supplied for the connection to the main water head and works with an isolation valve.

Software Control

FERT 2000 software allows you to control the fertigation and irrigation automation process remotely. You can choose to control the main pumping system as well as allow complete internet control and monitoring of the system. The purpose of the automation control software is to track both irrigation and fertigation for each block. It assists in reporting, monitoring and compliance and provides information for meeting fruit quality protocols.

The manual included with the FERT 2000 covers all technicalities and operations in further detail and descriptions. It quickly allows you to understand the working of your system controller. For help and support, our team is always there to guide you and troubleshoot any issues.

The FERT 2000 automation fertigation system is available for $12,500.00+GST, at this time, subject to confirmation of system positioning and integration with any existing equipment. This price is much lower than fertigation or irrigation schemes requiring maintenance and replacement to meet the growing needs of New Zealand fertigation customers. Extra features including non-return valves and main water-flow meter installation are available upon request.
